One thing I love about the first game (well, 1-1 through 1-4) is that the relationships between some of the key characters (Phoenix, Maya, Gumshoe, Edgeworth, even Mia really) are actively evolving as the game goes on. In most of the other games, the cast's relationships feel more static.
