Id assume Marvel wouldnt try to alienate their audience, while being respectful at the same time. There was a long belief that the mainstream audience wouldn't go see a movie with a majority black cast regardless of what they did. Honestly, I think this movie tying into the MCU forced a lot of reluctant peoples hands.
