The fight was about the size on the onions in the extra meals they can buy. They did the chest to chest square off so I stood in between and told them to go sit the fuck down and talked to them both separately like children. This was a week ago. Apparently I put myself at risk and should have just let it escalate and then called in the other officers as per protocol when a fight starts.
I deescalated the situation which is my job... but I did it... wrong somehow. The captain (aka my supervisor) even said this as stupid and he was annoyed he had to talk to me because I handled it fine, but on camera I looked like I had no regard for my safety or something
Anyway, that was annoying.
