Basically, what everyone is saying is that this would just basically swap TC's position with his friend. And TC would then owe his friend $10. Think of it this way. TC paid $60. Friend paid $40. Total was $100. If Friend pays TC $10, the now TC has paid $60-$10, which equals $50. And Friend has paid $40+$10, which also equals $50. And $50+$50=$100.
