So my university sent me an e-mail informing me about a paid summer internship working as a data analyst intern. The job deals with collecting data, analyzing it, and working with databases in general--basically, the bulk of what I do at my current job. They also require students who are entering their senior year of college to have a working knowledge of statistics. I've been thinking of applying for the internship because it relates more to my field of interest. I've been informed by my boss that I have permission to do so--but I'll have to consider decreasing my work hours or choosing which days I work there. Otherwise, I'll may have to consider ceasing working at my current job for eight weeks, which is the duration of the internship. I'm a bit apprehensive about seeking new opportunities for the summer; yet, I still enjoy the job security that my current workplace offers. I mean, theoretically, I could probably still come back after eight weeks if I stop working at my company. So the question I feel like I should ask, is: Should I ditch my current job for eight weeks to work at an internship that is more related to my career of interest, or should I keep working at my current job for that summer? One more thing I'm worried about is the work hours: For the data analyst intern position, they require me to work thirty to forty hours a week. And to be honest, I'm all freakin' crapped out from school, and would very much want a break. So what should I do? Am I stupid for considering throwing away my vacation, and forgoing time I could be using to be resting? Because holy crap, I'm tired of work and school and the like. If I didn't go for the internship, I wouldn't be advancing my career as much, but I could be working fewer hours at the job I'm doing right now and having more free time to do whatever I wish to clear my mind of school for the summer. Like, doing more work wouldn't be ideal if I wanted to rest, obviously. But I view this as a good opportunity. But I'm really so goddamn tired of everything that even if I did somehow get the internship, I wouldn't have the energy to do the job as well as I could if I had more time to rest. What should I do? Should I use the enter key to space out this paragraph, or something?
