And Jiren might make Goku realize that fighting isn't just fighting, it's a burden to care about the ones you love. Hence the "purity" he needs to find that comes without casting anything away (which Vegeta has already realized). I could just as easily of course see no clean resolution to the character differences, but it's a subtle and interesting contrast regardless.
