Apparently some places will terminate you on the spot for putting in a two weeks notice too... I think they do it to screw you up. Because it can cause jobs to not want to hire someone who's been fired. But most jobs ask for a reason, so you can explain it to them... Also, if you don't have the new job, it can mess you up because you might need the money.
