I don't have a huge use for it but I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over it being taught. We are taught many things that we rarely use. I want to teach my kids cursive anyway but will not push it if they don't care.

We have a lot of old family documents, letters, framed family trees that are written in a beautiful hand. It is kind of said that art is being lost.

I took a calligraphy class in college as a fine art major. I don't use it at all but it seemed to help further eye-hand coordination and attention to detail that lent itself to my other classes.
