Could never get myself to keep playing 4. I don't know why either.
It doesn't encourage exploration, it just pays you off if you go out of your way to explore an inconspicuous ruin.
Wait, what? Same, though it might have been more places... I get sidetracked easily... I think FO4 does encourage exploration by the mere fact that there are so many places to explore. I was doing one of the early quests to travel to diamond city and I must have explored 3 or 4 interior places and a raider base on the way.
