They have developed a victim complex where they think they're being attacked for flying American flags. They know the anthem controversy is stupid but they can't admit that. they've built it up to a point where they've convinced themselves that they're the ones being attacked FOR standing, not the other way around...They know Trump is a reprehensible individual and often makes them look dumb as supporters who can never admit when he did wrong so they have to say that to justify their support.
