It's probably not a thing. But Mark Brown, the host of Game Maker's Toolkit on youtube, has a series where he does an in-depth analysis of the dungeons in all of the Zelda games. For a lot of these videos, he uses this chart system that he invented that show the layout for the progression of each dungeon. The more linear dungeons have vertical charts, and the dungeons that are more open and allow more freedom for which order the rooms can be explored in have more horizontal charts. When I saw the word "vertical" in your post, I thought maybe it was actually a commonly-used term when discussing game design.
