Yeah well as much as I mourn the work that big cable is forced to do with absolutely no benefit, any service industry in IT puts their money into appropriate load bearing solutions rather than fucking over customers. In this case, the tower is hit before a load balancer. It goes to a load balancer after it hits the tower, but it's possible to overload a tower much easier. You can also overload a load balancer. And if you had a load balancer with infinite bandwidth you could overload connection pools or CPU resources at the servers behind the load balancer. Companies wouldn't shell out millions of dollars for DDoS protection services a year if there was an easy way you could just "load balance" things for a flat cost. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
