Apparently no one knows what tariff means, because people ITT are ignoring the fact that the price increase is on imported solar panels.

Companies will have to make or buy solar panels made in the US, and they will because solar is probably the future


This is bad for the solar power industry because it is now more expensive on a $/watt basis to install a solar project. When the solar industry puts the numbers into their spreadsheets to see if a potential project is profitable enough, now they are going to have to punch in the numbers for more expensive panels. That means fewer projects are going to be viable.

There's a reason the solar industry is upset about this, with the exception of the domestic manufacturers who benefit from it. Ironically one company, First Solar, that does all their manufacturing in overseas was supporting this because they use a different kind of solar panel technology (Cadmium telluride rather than crystalline silicon), and this tariff doesn't apply to their panels. So they get to keep importing at that cheap price while most everyone else uses crystalline silicon and is getting screwed. Lol.
