It's.. I can't even convey its awesomeness.

Satoru Fujinuma has a weird supernatural phenomenon that he calls "Revival" (this isn't properly explained; you'll just have to go with it). Every once in a while, his consciousness will travel back in time, usually between a few seconds to one or two minutes. It only happens when something very bad is about to happen, so he uses the opportunity to find out what's wrong and fix it. He usually saves the day, but it occasionally has repercussions on himself.

One day after discussing things that happened during his childhood with his mother, she begins to investigate an old murder, and he walks into his doorway to find her killed. Bystanders assume he did it, as do the police. As he's running away, he suddenly has a Revival - going back eighteen years, to his grade school days.

Thinking about what his mother was investigating and the time period he returned to, he realizes he must find the culprit behind a series of kidnapping and murders of several grade school girls including a classmate or his from a broken home, and in doing so save the victims, his mother, and another friend of his, a young man who was falsely convicted for the crimes.

It's a fucking masterpiece.
