I'm reminded of the story of a woman who went to emergency because of vaginal pain, and when they examined her the doctor almost passed out from the stench. The woman had miscarried without knowing it a couple weeks prior, and the lost fetus had decomposed into black ooze. I'm probably getting some details wrong because I can't find the original story and it's been a while, but it didn't exactly sound pleasant.
