Two of our major sports, baseball and football, are very different and strange spinoffs of older games, and haven't made much splash internationally. Baseball has some prescence outside the US, in parts of Latin America and Japan, but is still mostly a US thing. American football is just nothing outside the US (lol CFL). Meanwhile, another of our major sports, basketball, is completely our own invention, and is the only one that made it big internationally.
