Well, I think you're definitely in the minority with that opinion. I'd go as far as to say it might be the most popular sprite in video game history.

Of course, my idea that he generally doesn't look good outside of 8-bit is also probably a minority opinion.

not saying im not in the minority on that. its the eyes mostly. something about the eyes of the 8 bit sprite bug me. I feel like his helmet should be the more prominent thing as far as his head goes. also i'd argue marios sprite is the most popular. I see a lot more merchandise with it on it. which is odd since that particular sprite was actually only in one (two if you count lost levels) game
