They are the odds on favorite but because of his contract and full no trade clause he can basically pick where he plays which is why the Giants and Cardinals had meetings with his people. He'd rather play for the Dodgers but they don't seem interested or are playing a long game to see if they can get him to force the Marlins into making a bad trade for him. Otherwise it's basically Cardinals or Giants and it feels like the Giants are heavily favored in the balance right now. The only thing the Cardinals can dangle in front of him is the chance to win in 2018. The Giants will likely be decent again next year but the Cardinals with Stanton would be division contenders and it's hard to project anyone beating the Dodgers next year. Anyway it doesn't really matter. The hot stove sucks because the Stanton and Ohtani stories have stagnated so we're just saying the same shit over and over ... Copied to Clipboard! |
