Yeah, that was the wrong way for me to phrase it. Chise is just so instantly and unquestioningly accepting of him that it bothers me. I think that acceptance would mean more if she had an ounce of doubt in the first place but even as early as episode one she was all 'no he's nice to me I don't want to leave'. That said, I've now watched up to Episode 8. It still hasn't really addressed my problems but at this point I think I'll stick with it, if only because keeping up with new episodes as they come out won't be too much of a commitment.
