My German friends tell me that every German schoolchild is taught comprehensively about this era and its horrors; you can't go through the school system and avoid knowledge of it. There's no conspiracy to hide the history behind a wall of silence, no one is pretending it didn't happen, and there's no "complete censorship" in "all media". Germans are probably better educated about the sins of their own country's past than we are. That makes sense, thanks. I just always thought it was odd that you can't even use the name "Hitler" in German television or video games.
