My German friends tell me that every German schoolchild is taught comprehensively about this era and its horrors; you can't go through the school system and avoid knowledge of it. There's no conspiracy to hide the history behind a wall of silence, no one is pretending it didn't happen, and there's no "complete censorship" in "all media". Germans are probably better educated about the sins of their own country's past than we are. Fun fact, the schools I attended barely went over the trail of tears, and completely left out the fact that we had Japanese prison camps during WW2 --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
