Do you think Emily deserved that 1st place trophy?

High School Golfer, Emily Nash, a Junior at Lununburg High School in Massachusetts should have been at the winner's podium collecting a trophy she rightfully won...but instead all she got was a pat on the back as she was DENIED victory..because she's a GIRL!!

She was the only girl on her team who beat her follow male competitors by 4 shots but Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rules prohibit her from claiming the CMass D3 title..

A specific yet convoluted sporting rule states that "girls playing on a falls boys" team cannot be entered in the Balls Fall Individual Tournament. They can onl play in the Boys Team Tournament. If qualified, they can play in the Spring Girls Sectional and State Championships"

Emily won the Central Mass. Division 3 Boys' golf tournament at Blissful meadows on Tuesday with 3 over par and came in 4 shots better than runner up Nico Ciolino of the Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School.

Since she didn't get 1st place, she won't get an invitation to next week's tournament either because a girl competing in the tournament is againt the rules.

Robert Dufresne, a volunteer rules official said "It's a real injustice that she wasn't announced as a winner.". David Kocur, a Blissful Meadows Pro Shop Manager said "It was complete garbage. She played the same tees, played under the same conditions and everything"

Her score did count toward the team total but was not enough to qualify for statement tournament.

She was aware of the rules and played in the tournament anyway.

Nico, in a sportsmanship gesture offered his trophy to her but she declined it.

David said that Nico felt so bad that he actually tried and BEGGED Emily to accept it..and althugh she didn't because she was too disappointed, she appreciated the offer.

Do you think Emily deserved that trophy? let's see what people think.
