It's not an absolute standard, but most of us typically do simply because we're male ourselves and we're more ambitious about getting practice giving oral. It's not uncommon in gay male culture for partners to be eager to give head for multiple reasons, ESPECIALLY those in long term relationships and promiscuous guys who just want to be instantly popular.
