Well dreams aren't entirely unconscious, you just don't usually remember them. I do feel you on that though, sucks to lose so much time to sleep. I'm usually awake 18-20 hours straight and then sleep for 7-8 hours and trying to deviate from that causes major problems (plus it doesn't matter if I lie in bed for 10 hours, I'm not falling asleep until I'm actually tired, the only way I can be on a 24 hour schedule is to regularly only sleep like 3-4 hours a night, just like I did for years and years going to school, which made me tired and borderline a zombie for all those years. Complete misery.).
