Eh, weird shit happens in Minecraft all the time if you are playing on a server. I've suffocated in the floor and gotten caught on fire from lava that was below solid blocks before with server issues. Maybe they've patched those, though.

In Minecraft you can normally take fall damage if the water isn't deep enough. However, IIRC if you just hold jump when you hit the water, even one block deep water can save you, no matter the fall height.

those things generally are due to server lag, not anything to do with minecraft proper

and you don't need to hold jump, either, for one block of water to save you, it just saves you no matter what

This is literally what I was saying, but TC didn't seem to have his reading glasses on.
