Mundane and tedious can mean the same thing and are typically used interchangeably, so no, I wasn't arguing a falsity. Saying mundane has a negative connotation isn't moving the goalpost, it's elaborating on why using mundane as a benign way of saying "ordinary" doesn't really work. I would say that resorting to the whole "you're young, you'll understand when you're older/grow up" shtick is pretty petty and lacks any sort of substance. It's pretty much the last refuge of someone who's lost an argument.
