There were still several living pokemon on both sides at that point and so the possibility of setting up hawlucha a few turns later wasn't unreasonable to hope for. I think the heal bell to wake up arcanine might have been a mistake though. You could have used lanturn to kill the muk outright on that turn instead of letting it chunk a large part of lanturns life and lanturn might have gotten more value out of the next couple turns then arcanine got.
