I have this tiny Jack Russel Terrier that has come into my ownership so I was out there trying to get her to shit before bed... Earlier we had directly encountered skunks that had, at first, retreated to the next house, but then started actually running across the yard in our direction. I ran straight back to the house!

So here we were again a couple hours later. I'm out there scanning everywhere for skunks and then I start noticing a lot of bird-like sounds from the tree, but they're kind of different. Then it hits me that birds should be sleeping right now and that they're probably bats. Which makes my mind start wandering because I don't mind bats but I wonder if the dog is so small that it would be an animal they would attack, or even an owl! Right? Like what would I do if an owl suddenly swooped down on her? It would be insane.

As I'm pondering this and trying to see bats, I feel something hard and firm on my shoulder. First thought was that it was a tree branch, but I turn and there was no branch anywhere near. I think it had to be a big ass spider. I started freaking out and swearing and I just felt shit all over me. I kept picking out pieces of web from different places and was so scared the spider was on me! I searched my clothes and thankfully never saw the damn thing.

It's just crazy how there's one thing after another in my yard, it's like a zoo. We also have coyotes come around and that would be really bad if it was hungry because this little pup would be a perfect snack and I'd have to fight it off.
