Ok, I loaded up an old save file. Hopefully I can help a bit

Go to your equipment menu and press square. It will swap from showing a description of your items to showing its stats like this:

8Twj6Bz

On the top where it says "ATK" and "DEF" it has a bunch of symbols. Those symbols, left to right are:

Earth (brown cube)
Water (blue droplet)
Fire (red flame)
Wind (white swirl)
Electric (yellow zigzag)
Star (yellow star)
Vacuum (black swirl with white specks)
Light (yellow smiley face)
Dark (eyeball)
Petrification (grey cube)

For ATK, each element is either colored in or blank. A weapon with elements colored in does extra damage to enemies weak vs those elements and less damage to enemies that resist them.

For DEF, each element can have a + or - sign attached to it. If an item has a + attached to it, then it reduces the damage you take from that element. If it has a - attached to it then it increases the damage you take. To have a better time fighting the final boss, equip as many items that boost Earth defense as possible. Good examples of items that do this are:

Neo Greaves boots
Pallas Athena shield
Reflective Armor
Barrier Armor
Dream Crown helmet
Reverse Doll accessory
Right Cross accessory
Angel Armband accessory (which you definitely don't have)
Tri-Emblem accessory (which you ALSO don't have)

You probably have some Reverse Dolls. Most of the rest can be crafted if you have the Magical Rasp. Failing getting these pieces of equipment, have fun grinding to around level 130. At around 130 you should be able to win with store bought equipment.
