Since there was no more material to adapt, they had to stop there (or run the risk of anime-original endings). I still hope for a Season 3, but ... it is unlikely to happen any time soon. As far as yuri goes, I prefer regular ol' yuri. I have no use for Protag-kunus Interruptus. And there is certainly a niche for futa, but that is not normally my thing.
