i'd like to read about this moment! the game is really good at setting up relationships with people that it feels like you're bound to have a special moment with the cast whatever choice you make, and of course you'll be making major ones with the characters that resonate with you the most.

I generally decided which of my crew to liberate long before I actually did the rite. For the 5th Liberation Rite, I had decided to send up Pamitha. I was very sympathetic situation, and while I'd brought into contact with her sister several times, they weren't able to patch things up. If anything, seeing her sister was making Pamitha feel worse. I felt like it would be good to get her out of the Downside - she had nothing left for her there.

So of course, I get to the rite location and I'm facing Tamitha's team. Went "...huh" and started second-guessing my choice. What would Pamitha feel like if I liberated her at the direct cost of her sister? Maybe I should free someone else first...but no, for all I knew there wouldn't be a next time for her. I stuck to the plan. After the sisters exchanged some words, the rite began. I started winning pretty easily.

Then Pamitha directly asks me to throw the match so that Tamitha could go up instead of her. It was a little heartbreaking and had me doubting my choice all over again. After seriously deliberating whether or not to throw the match, I decided that I simply couldn't do it. I wouldn't let Pamitha's self-loathing cost her the freedom I felt she deserved. Ended up winning the match via Pamitha diving into their pyre.

I was really worried about how Pamitha would feel about that, but when the time came for her to go up, she expressed nothing but gratitude. She had realized that our group genuinely cared for her, and it helped take the edge off of her self-loathing. Left the Nightwings as happily as I could have hoped for.

Black Turtle did a pretty good job.
