As for the other episodes as far as I know they have been touched up on blu-ray but not extended like episode 1.
Also did you watch the Right of Left OVA and the Heaven and Earth movie? You shouldn't skip those.

all the MCs died right? Yeah, that was honestly a little too tragic for me lol. The movie was better because it was a bit more
happy I'm hoping Exodus isn't too kill-happy like the originals were. Also, iirc they didn't even do much to the aliens throughout the series and the movies. I'm hoping they actually finish off or at least put a big hole in the alien army this season.
