So Ive been using Kaspersky for years now. Well my license expires today in about an hour and half. On top of that, I see a news article the other day saying the US gov has forbidden Kasperky to be used for its computers and Best Buy is pulling the line off their shelves!. All because apparently the Russian based company is being all too cozy with Putin. But that is neither here or there....

I went to explore the option of renewal and found out the price for 1 year of Total Security (what I was wanting) is $79.99. I was expecting $40-50 range but thats absurd. Well for shits and giggles I checked out their website from just googling it and found for a new non-renewal customer, its only $49.99. Crazy, 30 dollar price discrepancy for returning customers. So I chatted up with an online agent to ask them why I should renew when I can just buy new. They were very anxious to call me on the phone and very eager to tell me all their different pricing options. To that I told them, I didn't need to hear their options, I knew what I wanted and text would be just fine.

But I got to say after getting the ol run-around they could never give me a solid answer of why I should pay 30 extra dollars to renew. They only told me it was 50% off for new customers. So I asked them if I let my license lapse in the next couple of hours, if I would theoretically be a "new customer" when shopping online again tomorrow. And she told "I don't know"... What insight... I volunteered to be the guinea pig to try it out, even offering to message her back with my findings.... And you guys know what she did? She left the chat room! Just hung up on me... What horrible customer service....


I got to say, I was feeling shaky with them after the whole Russian conspiracy thing but they don't leave much confidence in their price matching or customer service departments.
