They experimented with it for two seasons (which I actually liked), but it didn't work out for them, so they're going back to random weekly stuff. 2015 was fine with a few bumps...but 2016 just felt like one long-drawn episode with them banking on Trump losing which did not happen, causing them to change the story and unable to save the season. Just a 2 or 3-parter and that's it. Everything else should be single stand-alone episodes. Personally I think 2014 was the best way to do it. There were recurring themes/stories and callbacks throughout the season, but each episode stood on its own and didn't really require you to watch any others.
