But I think it pretty often, because I use it as a general term like "dude." It knows no race or even gender in my (mental) vocabulary. I personally believe in the notion that a word only has as much power as people choose to give it. Like the way Lil B set out to change the meaning of "based," I would like it if we could strip all the negative feeling from the word, while of course not forgetting the past.
