If you're American, and someone over there asks where you're from, say you're Canadian. Even then, most people won't ask and will assume you're American and treat you like shit.

I've traveled to England several times. They are so condescending, snobbish, and rude.
I've traveled to England a few times, as well as France which also gets a reputation for being assholes to American tourists. Never had an issue in any country I've traveled to.
If I had to guess, I'd say that anyone who was treated poorly in a "civilized" country they were visiting is most likely an asshole themselves, and were getting treated like the asshole they are.
Nope, always travelled for work so I wasn't partying or anything crazy. Literally just going about my day buying things at stores or eating at restaurants and having a limey talk down to me or make stupid comments about America.
