There's nothing wrong with debarking. It doesn't eliminate their barking outright but cuts it in half. You ever hear a dog, especially medium and large breeds, that have that ear piercing oomph to their barks? It gets rid of that.
The only problems arise with the inherent risks of surgery but other than that, they behave the same. The effectiveness of them as a deterrent is definitely reduced but that's the owner's fault.
Seriously, though, fuck people with nuisance dogs. Unless you've experienced people with several large dogs creating a non-stop cacophony, you really can't understand how bad it is. It really is entirely unfair and people should be punished for it.

im also tired of people treating dogs holier than persons - the owners could always just get rid of their dogs by sale if they want to avoid de-barking anyway.
