91. Majimoji Rurumo
https://myanimelist.net/anime/23945/Majimoji_Rurumo

Majimoji Rurumo is a comedy anime about a young witch (Rurumo) who has to somehow get Shibaki to use 666 magic wish granting tickets. Sounds easy right? I mean a genie only gives 3. But, at the end of the 666th wish you kind of die and that's a problem.

Or I want to say it's a problem but the show is so short and very focused on comedy that they use it as like a thing but also not really. They could have made it go a lot deep and darker, but it's probably for the best they didn't. What's interesting though is that the show does do a good job at making sure the viewer knows that once he knows the condition for the wishes it's like a big deal whenever he does make one. It's worth noting that Rurumo does not know about the side effects.

Rurumo is a with with the fucking biggest witch hat ever. She's a hard worker, yet also has a hard time doing things. But one of best thing the show does is basically how it makes you feel bad for her. This is kind of pitted against not wanting Shibaki to die because for Rurumo to be a real witch he has to use all the tickets. Shibaki, a grade A pervert, shows obvious care for Rurumo (more as like a friend more than anything) and wants her to become a full fledged witch. The last place I'd expect this to go is like a cute feel good show, but that's basically what this is.

The side characters are pretty entertaining. There is a cat who turns into a barely clothed girl, the mom who is a yandere, and even a rival witch. They add varying amounts to the simple story the show has, but most importantly give you different things to laugh about.

Where the show does lack though is nothing really happens. We get some minor character development and some tickets are pulled and such, but a lot of show is a by the numbers generic anime that has an interesting base and pretty endearing characters.

90. Love Stage
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21105/Love_Stage

Love Stage is a shounen-ai romantic comedy. A long time ago a boy and a girl starred in a commercial together. The guy developed a sort of crush on the girl. Skip forward a few years and they are doing a anniversary commercial. The guy, who still has a crush on the girl... finds out the girl is actually another guy (who looks like a girl).

Shounen-Ai is not a genre I typically like. Not really for the sounen-ai but because since the main audience is female they toss in a lot of those shoujo type things that really get on my nerves. Like those reverse harems where they have to introduce all the guys in an episode and have a flower frame around them. I ask myself "is this what girls want in an anime?". However, Love Stage seems to have broken the gender barrier (and sooner than Yuri on Ice... which might be the most misleading title in all of anime).

It does this mainly by just being pretty solid on the comedy front and having a decent romance arc too. Like it still lacks the investment you'll have in something like Toradora or Skip Beat. I want to say other shounen-ais to watch... but I can't. I mean I've seen some of number 6, and that show sucks. I will say though that near the end something kind of happens that is pretty upsetting in the show and might be a deal breaker for some people.

The characters are pretty fun to watch. While they have simple back stories, the show used them to build their current personalities and circumstances and uses them well to create their full profile. The main enemy of the show is time, it's only 10 episodes and it's hard to pull off something like this in such a short period of time and have it seem meaningful. To be honest it only partly succeeds but does its best in trying.
