Littlefinger was a dishorable scumbag who got what he deserved. He thought he was clever, but it all finally caught up to him. But he wasn't defeated by any kind of cunning or wit. He was foiled because there is a literal omniscient god character who can rat him out. That was wholly unsatisfying, probably even more so if you hate him. He knew about Bran's powers well in advance.
