TopicTheater cancels Gone With the Wind screening because it's insensitive

The film is a revisionist take on history and it is monumentally racist. According to Gone With the Wind, slaves were ambitionless and well treated, the North attacked the South without cause, and the glory days of society were brought to an abrupt and callous end due to Northern aggression.

That said, I don't support blocking a screening of the film anymore than I would a public book burning. I've personally seen it twice on the big screen.

In terms of acting, character development, story structure, and cinematography, it is an amazing film. And you don't have to turn off your sensibilities and forget the film's message either. You can be critical of a story's message while still admiring the characters and mechanics of the story. It also functions as a window into some of the mindsets which a number of people in the South actually believed or at least argued to be true.

Just preface the film with a foreword about the insensitive nature of the production. There's no call for this kind of aggressive censorship.
