you don't need to strip him of everything and he can still be respectable. A2 does not work well with Genji Blade, none of her boosts come from katana, Beastlord gives you the biggest bonus already, and it's the strongest weapon.

30% ATK / 20% DEF with a sword
50% ATK with a large sword
30% ATK / 20% SPR with a lance
30% ATK/HP with a fist

Beastlord + Aigaion Arm is the standard set to have her break 1000 ATK with ease. a sword, lance, or fist are what you need in the second slot. she doesn't need the Dual Wield TMR either. she does eat up the Large Sword Mastery and might eat the ATK +30% though. ditto for the armor/helm/accessories.

if you don't have Aigaion Arm and are satisfied with your A2's LB status/just auto-ran her to 6*, i recommend you get it. two A2 + Rikku can run that trial pretty fast and are the only truly essential pieces. if you don't care for World Destroyer on your first run (no magic, meaning no Libra and no Curaga/ja) it's even easier. you get Martial Arts Mastery + Aigaion Arm from it and that promptly gives you another +80% ATK +30% HP.
