This is a great point to be made here, but I trust myself more than my car. If something really weird happens on the road-- an unaccounted for freak circumstance-- when it all boils down to it, human discretion may just prevail over a dictionary of algorithms. It really depends.

Maybe I'd feel differently if each and every car, road, and stop light were all programmed the same and talked to one another like nodes as opposed to cars being developed to react to their environment. Being in IT, I see computer systems in my own company have some kind of hardware malfunction every week. There is just no way to test something to that degree 100% without casualties.

Call me a skeptic if you'd like. Hell, even a pessimist. I prefer "realist."
