You want to remove the internet? Because that's pretty much what it would take.

I used to have this exact opinion, but I wound up changing my mind because the days when you can squelch an ideology simply by not paying attention to it are dead. Honestly, I'm not sure that approach EVER worked - after all, Nazism is still around and we've been trying to get rid of that shit for 80 years now.

Point is, today shitheads have all the tools at their disposal to find like-minded individuals and spread their message of hate. They can coordinate via social media, publish "news" and opinion pieces on personal websites, and put up videos on Youtube. Unlike the days of yore when access to mass communication was limited to a handful of media conglomerates, today everyone can turn their home into a mini-studio to be used for whatever purpose they see fit.

So, personally, I'd rather see these people opposed than allow them to march uncontested. If our kids have to see this sort of bullshit out there, let them see how big and varied the counter-movement is. If they have to hear the poisonous words, let them hear someone else talking sense at the same time.

By protesting, you're just hurting your own cause because they are not going to go away.

The exact same things were said about the gay rights movement, and the civil rights movement before them, and the suffragettes before them. "Your protesting is just making people angry and turning people away from your cause!" was a common refrain to all three movements. It seemed to work out alright for them in the end.
