You bring up Caitlyn winning an arbitrary award, I can bring you up countless articles of trans folks facing violence. I'm not exactly sure the award cancels out the fear of being assaulted daily. I'd also argue that telling them they have a mental disorder when they just want to fix what they see as a problem so that they can be happy goes against that pursuit of happiness.

All I'm saying is you can't make jump and say that the number is only that high because they are trans and no outside factors. Like I said, I'm sure that identity crisis does cause mental anguish, but I don't think that's all of it.

The gay population is the best population to compare them to though.

Similarly rejected by their families. Similarly rejected by society. In fact, gays even had a plague almost exclusive to them in the 70's and 80's. And even still, transgenders today have a higher suicide rate than gays did back in the AIDS crisis.

This is the point where you just need to accept that gender dysphoria has similar effects on the mind as depression. Marginalization simply isn't a sufficient explanation.
