I'm not going to lift the seat to piss in my own home because I live alone and I don't want company ever, and the public restrooms at work have urinals. This leaves everywhere else that isn't home or work, which accounts for less than 1% of the leaks I take. In those cases, this "splashback" is extremely rare and on those rare occasions when it happens, I take care of it. Lifting the seat up every time I piss would be only marginally more logical (from a statistical standpoint alone) than wearing a kevlar vest every time I am in a public place (in case I get shot in the torso randomly) also fuck sitting down.
