I think women can get away with being boring, but maybe that just says something about the men they interact with. For example, men almost never challenge women on their claims to geeky interests the way they challenge other men, so perhaps that results in a lot of "fake" female geeks, but is it really their fault?

I imagine the same kind of thing would occur if you had guys interested in say, fashion, interacting with women. But that doesn't happen as much because those guys are either gay or afraid of being perceived as gay.

On that note, men are boring too. I think they get into more depth with their interests than women do, but women are more willing to branch out and have a higher number of interests. Women on average also don't spend as much time at home living a sedentary lifestyle.
