I think A New Frontier struggles to define itself. The Michonne mini-series did as well, but the scope of that game was much smaller so it had fewer opportunities to stumble, and it had a great core to fall back on - the visual language it used to show Michonne's past and her suicidal ideation was striking, and that had a trickle down effect on the smaller character moments. It was tense and unpredictable. It was flawed as well, sure, but it earned its pathos.

A New Frontier doesn't... often. Clem is Clem, and the way TT handles that character continues to be wonderful. Putting her in a new setting, with different context each time keeps the games fresh. The flip-side of that is TT need to introduce a new cast each time, and this cast doesn't get the time needed to develop as TT struggle to balance their quiet moments, time with Clem, and the bigger action set pieces. The pacing is off. I still think there's enough to recommend it, but it's one of TT's weaker efforts.

There are bad TT games (Jurassic Park). There are boring TT games (Batman). A New Frontier is neither - it's uneven.
