It's extremely hard for new companies to enter this space. That's why these pharmaceuticals are basically monopolies. They can raise their prices this much because there are few or no alternatives. Reduce the governmental red tape and bureaucracy so that competition can enter the market and reduce prices. I too desire a lack of patents.
