I'd caution against using the Express as a source, just as Zeus (or anyone) should steer well clear of the Sun. My scepticism's based partly on my personal experience of how tabloid journalists reported riots on an estate where I was living at the time. (You can add the Mirror and the Mail to the list of tabloids to be avoided as sources.) I'd point out that union militancy and violence during strikes are not some new development in France; they're part of a long tradition.
