One time my doctor needed a blood sample so he pushed me down the stairs

I mean, stabbing somebody with a needle is pretty violent. Aside from periods, you're not going to bleed unless a blood vessel is damaged in some way, which I think is the point.

I don't know who draws your blood but most people certainly aren't "stabbed".

Needles fit that definition well enough. Heck, a phlebotomist that's gentle with the poking is more likely to cause extra damage and discomfort than one who just jabs it in there smoothly and quickly.

The point is that people don't associate getting poked or stuck by a needle as being "stabbed", much less conflate getting blood drawn as a violent act. Anyone who does is just being dramatic.
